La Tome is a cooperative that recycles a specific typ of 'silo' plastic. It had a good level of production until the beginning of this year. then one of the external members of the cooperative group left with the machines and with the client contacts. They restablished relations with the supplier and clients by working more effectively than they had before, but they needed to buy new equipment. They had loans on machines and intended to alter them to more effectively meet their needs but they were unalbe to move forward absent the necessary capital. this is when they contacted La Base.
They had previously contacted Las Base althought | the earlier contact did not result in a loan.
There are now 8 members in the cooperative, although there is much greater potential and can the cooperative can grow significantly if the machines were functionaing at levels closer to their potential.
Their largest current client can order a great deal more than the cooperative can produce. This assures them that increased production will be almost assured. This being the case, it would not be necessary, or at least not urgent, that the workers seek new clients during the period of project implementation, although they have plans to diversify so as not to be dependent upon one client. |
